For over 25 years the Schmitz Foundations have been actively working for the needy in selected regions of the developing world. The main focus of our work is to reinforce local initiatives by supporting self-help projects with long-term effects in the following fields:
Our overriding aim is to ameliorate the poverty of the local population in specific regions by means of effective and sustainable measures. Their situation cannot be lastingly improved by external help alone. Thus the Schmitz Foundations focus on fostering the productive and creative abilities of the poor people themselves. Consequently “help for self-help“ is an essential guiding principle of the work of the Schmitz Foundations.
